We're both pleased & proud to at last officially announce that the Mythic Party custom event for 2012 will be...
...specifically a special session of the Gold ENnie-award winning horror RPG, Dread co-ordinated & run by its very own experts from Windmill Games, Akira Barnes, Jason Pisano, & Brian Keller.

Dread has rave reviews all over the Interwebs such as here & here & here.  What made it win that Gold ENnie- an Innovation Award- is the fact that instead of numbers for stats your characters are composed from a series of developing questions & instead of dice whenever you try to do something that could seriously fail you pull a block from a Jenga tower.  Pull ok & you succeed, knock the tower over & something bad happens to you.  BAD-BAD.

But to capture the essence of a horror movie, after the tower falls it must be rebuilt to the same height it had just reached, making the pulls harder & more dangerous.  So the tension continues to escalate until the eventual climax of the story.

This Saturday night will be the only formal run of Dread at Gen Con 2012, & only for the top 7 bidders to our charity of choice, the equally innovative Search Dog Foundation.  We are helping raise awareness & donations (all of which go directly to them, not through us) towards their building the 1st ever National Training Center for canines that perform disaster rescues.

If you're ready to try an absolutely unique Gen Con opportunity, to both have a unique roleplay experience as well as feel like a character right inside a horror movie, & to help out a wonderful non-profit agency that helps both dogs as well as disaster victims, look here for more info real soon.

Over $2K in donations!

Thanks to the generosity of gamers at Gen Con 2011, $2,044 was given to this year's official charity, the Search Dog Foundation. SDF was chosen because they exemplify our win-win philosophy. That is, while these special canines rescue people in danger they themselves are rescued too. Every adopted dog chosen to start the training receives a Lifetime Care Commitment so that after retirement or even if they do not pass the test, they are placed in a loving home. SDF even monitors things & if that family can no longer care for the dog, another home is found.

We made a great start towards our eventual goal of completely sponsoring a search dog, which as a FEMA certified team, would truly become a life-saving resource. There are currently only 150 Advanced Certified teams in the nation but our country needs 336 (12 for each of 28 FEMA Task Forces). So there is a critical shortage of something needed during critical times. Mythic Party wants to help raise awareness of this, as well as be part of the solution.

We'd like to especially thank GM Keith Baker, sponsor Dwarven Forge, & top contributor Sean Pecor. Although Mythic Parties require assistance from literally several dozen people to happen, the above folks were especially critical for MP3. Our sincere appreciation.

And we're already hard at work on raising everything to the next Level for MP4.
Stay tuned for info about our events at Gen Con 2012.

Adventure Teaser for 28 Turns Later

This is the intro for the custom adventure that Keith Baker will be running at this year's Mythic Party, aka MP3:

"You are one of the secret soldiers of the Crown. When the sun is high and times are good, you don't exist. You live in the shadows, doing the jobs no Paladin of the Light will touch. You are assassins and heretics, monsters and murderers. And tonight, you are the Kingdom's last hope.

Welcome to the Army of the Dusk."

Mythic Party 2010 Raises Almost $3K for Charity

http://oceana.org/
We've raised close to $3K- please excuse us while we go out to personally thank some of the many people who helped make this all possible.

$2,052 in donations given to Oceana.org for their efforts to help the ocean after the Gulf Coast disaster. This was matched by one of their supporters, in effect doubling it.

Other donations were made from the fund to the Gygax Memorial Fund.
